Discovering Tambour beading - A two day residential weekend
Tutor: Sylvia Fairhurst
Dates: Friday, 23rd March - Sunday, 25th March 2018
Venue: The Holiday Inn, Birmingham,M6 Junction 7 - A quality 3-star hotel.
Tambour is a technique used to apply embellishment to fabric with a handheld tool. Once mastered, it is much speedier than working with a needle and thread. You see the results on the fashion catwalks and throughout the haute couture industry.
Over this weekend you will learn how to 'dress' a range of frames to prepare for Tambour embroidery. Through demonstrations, Sylvia will explain the Tambour technique and making a basic chain. Having chosen from a selection of designs, you will then explore how to transfer the design to your fabric and prepare the needle/hook and holder ready for stitching. Once you have learned the basic technique and stitched in all directions, you will add beads, bugles and sequins.
